A letter to the speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiji Colins by a faceless group linked to some members of the Imo state House Assembly who are fighting the speaker for political and monetary gains, has confirmed the authenticity of the Speakers certificates.
The opposition lawmakers led by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lawmaker and member representing Oguta state constituency in the Imo state House of Assembly, Frank Ugboma in another letter to Speaker Chiji Collins dated 15th of July 2020 abandoned their initial letter where they asked the speaker to resign for parading fake Doctorate and NYSC certificates to currently confirm the authenticity and validity of Speakers certificates.
In their current letter written by Advocacy For Justice & Accountability and signed by one Mr. Yomi Balogun, but sponsored in the media by lawmakers who are seeking to change the House leadership for political and monetary gains, acknowledged that Imo speaker, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins actually studied in Italy where he graduated and obtained “la Laurea di Dottore on 8th June 1989.
The letter also acknowledged that Speaker Chiji Collins possessed a valid NYSC Certificate of Exemption duly issued by the NYSC with 055494 as certificate no.
The lawmakers in their new letter only confirmed the Speakers position that his Doctorate and NYSC exemption certificates are authentic and genuine as the lawmakers out ignorance do not know that the system education varies according to countries and continents.
The opposition lawmakers, also failed maybe out of ignorance and exposure to note that it is the Nigerian University Commission (NUC), that has the powers to determine the status of foreign degrees, as well as the fact that Nigerian citizens conclude the educational pursuit abroad before coming home to serve because of VISA and financial issus.
