As the move to sack Gov Hope Uzodinma adds momentum, with the entrance of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, into the suit filed by the 2019 Governorship candidate of The Reform and Advancement party (RAP), a question many ask ourselves remains; what if Kingdom Okere wins?
The Supreme Court, had ruled the Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to former Govenror of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, as well as the Action Alliance AA, in the last election, and therefore, was disqualified due to dual candidacy.
Nwosu would withdraw from the Election petition he had filed, which was at the Supreme Court stage.
The question Kingdom Okere is now seeking answer to is, if Uche Nwosu was the APC and AA candidate, which party is Gov Hope Uzodinma candidate of.
Ugo eberela na mgba gbu (the bird has perked to be shot).
What happens if Gov Hope Uzodinma fails to prove which party he is the candidate of? If Kingdom Okere succeeds in sacking Gov Hope Uzodinma at the High Court, what do we expect to happen?
Expectedly, if Kingdom Okere should defeat Gov Hope Uzodinma at the High Court, the Govenror will certainly appeal the judgement and may obtain a stay of execution of the judgment of the lower court maintaining status quo.
What if he wins at the Appeal or he is defeated again?
Gov Hope Uzodinma, if defeated at the Appeal Court, will of course run to the Supreme Court where his power is. Kingdom Okere, will also head to the Supreme if he is defeated at the Appeal Court.
If the Supreme Court gives a ruling in Gov Hope Uzodinma’s favour, the issue of Imo State Governorship Election of 2019, will ultimately come to a final end.
On the other hand, if the judgement goes in favour of Kingdom Okere, the second runner up in the election, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha would automatically be returned yet again as Govenror of Imo State.
Events to follow includes, the immediate withdrawal of all Govenrment assigned property, vehicles and personnel from Senator Hope Uzodinma, just as it was done to Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha when the Supreme Court gave it’s January verdict.
Every Govenrment office will be sealed to appointees of Senator Hope Uzodinma, as they, like it happened during the Ihedioha removal, will be barred from entering those offices to take even pin or picture of their wife they left there.
Those who have Police, cars and drivers assigned to them should pray they are not along Onitsha road when the judgement is given. You will be stepped down from that vehicle with immediate effect, so it would be wise to be with your private car that day or you stay at home. All State Bank accounts will be frozen until Ihedioha takes over, and gives orders to unfreeze them.
Those and more will be the chain of events that will follow, if Gov Hope Uzodinma loses to Kingdom Okere.
In an unlikely event that the election is completely canceled due to many intrigues, or the argument of AA over Uche Nwosu is listened to, and Uche Nwosu is declared Govenror, the events above will still follow almost the same procedure.
While the Speaker of the State Assembly takes over as acting Govenror, in the event of total cancelation, Uche Nwosu would take over if the AA agreement flies, since by right, the results Govenror Hope Uzodinma is brandishing belongs to him.
Interesting times ahead.
