The ghost of protracted legal battle on the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State may soon be exhumed as ousted governor, Emeka Ihedioha is alleged to have commenced another legal action to retrieve his position.

Daily Nigerian Horn learnt from other authoritative sources that the legal team of Ihedioha has concluded plans to return to the Supreme Court for an interpretation on the status of governor Hope Uzodimma as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the March 9, 2019 election.

According to the source, Ihedioha is premising his argument on the grounds that the Supreme Court had disqualified Uche Nwosu on the basis of being the Action Alliance, AA, candidate and that of the APC.

The argument further went on to state that if Uche Nwosu was the authentic candidate of APC as ruled by the Supreme Court, then Uzodimma did not have any platform to contest the election.

The source who said in a few days the case will resume, cited the suit filed by the Reform and Advancement Party RAP and its governorship candidate, Okere Kingdom challenging the declaration of governor Uzodimma as governor when he could not prove that he was the genuine APC candidate.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has joined in the suit by RAP against governor Uzodimma in Abuja.

Daily Nigerian Horn gathered that PDP believed that RAP’s case against governor Uzodimma has some merit in it and the party stands to benefit from any outcome.

It could be recalled that the State Government through the Commissioner for information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba had accused Ihedioha of been desperate to return as Imo governor, a charge analysts believe is not unconnected with the alleged return to the Supreme Court by Ihedioha.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday adjourned the RAP case to 29th September, 2020.
