GROUPS INDICATE INTEREST TO PARTNER WTH MINISTRY OF GENDER
The Commissioner for Gender and Vulnerable Group, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu has disclosed her willingness to work in synergy with all relevant groups who wishes to partner the ministry in its mandate of driving gender based advocacy.
The Commissioner made this pledge at different fora while addressing some groups and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) who paid her courtesy/solidarity visits.
The groups/NGOs who paid the Commissioner courtesy/solidarity visits on different occasions include; Hope Alive Youth Organization, Jenny Uzo Foundation and the Physically Challenged Staff Welfare Club of her Ministry.
In their separate addresses during the courtesy visits, the groups disclosed their willingness to partner the ministry in its fight against domestic violence, child abuse and related matters.
They appreciated the Commissioner for the able ways he has been piloting the affairs of the Ministry and the accelerated advocacy and fight against all forms of gender violence and child abuse.
They lauded her for the palliatives to various vulnerable groups, opening of website for easy information dissemination, the recertification of opharnage homes in the state, securing offices for the Ministry in all local government areas of the state, the unique virtual children’s day celebration in the state, improvement of the welfare of physically challenged workers in her Ministry, among others.
They urged her to remain undaunted in her resolve implement some people oriented reforms in the Ministry, reminding her that it is normal in this part of the world for some unpatriotic elements to try to pull a rising person down, which only those who remain resolute in doing the right things will emerge victorious at the end of the tunnel.
