The name Araraume have been attached to so many narratives over the years. We have all heard so much folklore and fables about the person of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume that most people can no longer tell the difference between the truth and the many lies that have followed the name around for so long.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume had not helped matters either or would I say those around him over the years had not done a good job dispelling the negative stories and setting the records straight on issues raised against his person. Senator Ifeanyi Araraume I would say, seemed a bit media shy. He is a very private person and probably didn’t really see the need to challenge the lies probably believing that as lies they are, they would die a natural death.
Unfortunately, with enemies who know how to manipulate the media to their advantage, those fallacies have some what taken a life of their own with everybody telling his own version of one lie or the other as it suits them and the picture they wish to paint.
I don’t think there is any man in Imo State living or dead who has been vilified the way Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has been.
Back in the day, we used to hear there was a crocodile in his house that he feeds people to. As laughable as it is now to even imagine it, many people believed that story. Picture of the crocodiles that ate people in Araraume’s house below. Photo credit Awurum Darlington.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume dealt General Olusegun Obasanjo the biggest blow any human being have ever dealt him (aside from Gen. Sani Abacha that imprisoned him) when he put a halt to his third term bid. Every Nigerian should be appreciative of that feat which nobody dared to do back then but Senator Ifeanyi Araraume dared the Lion and took away his roar. In a bid to get his own pound of flesh, Obasanjo tried blackmail with his cheap “…your people say you dey do like this…” statement and when that did not work to stop Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who despite Federal might won the PDP primaries and the election, Obasanjo resorted to threatening Prof Maurice Iwu with EFCC to cancel the election. Other manipulations of that time resulted in the Imo we see today. An Imo that saw eight years of Okorocha because of a gang up against a good man.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume took the bullet for all Nigerians. If Obasanjo has succeeded, believe me, he would still manipulate the constitution until he gets life presidency like his fellow despots littered about Africa. He would still be sitting in Aso Rock today or we might be at war.
Many people allege Senator Ifeanyi Araraume is a spoiler. Well, I can be a spoiler and so could you when people try to take away what you worked hard to get.
When even those he made who and what they are in life today joined hands to deny him his victory in 2011, did you expect him to just sit down and turn the other cheek? Mee kwa ma ya wuru gi. I know I will fight like a wounded lion to scatter everything. Then you will call me a spoiler. You should also call yourself a spoiler. If you claim you will stay calm and let it go then I pray for you this day that you will win contests and the prize will be given to others so you can have a taste of what Senator Ifeanyi Araraume have been through.
I was a staff of PDP when Senator Ifeanyi Araraume returned to the party and declared for governorship. He promised to support the party with his money and influence if he doesn’t emerge in a free and fair primary but swore to ensure that the product of a fraudulent primary would never become governor of Imo State. Even the PDP Executive of 2015 and the product of that primary know that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume won that primary. So is he a spoiler because he kept his words and ensured the party that duped him failed? I see a man who stands by his words. A man you should be careful not to break agreements you enter with him. A good leader whose word is his bond.
It’s sheer hypocrisy to call him a spoiler because he denied the man you are supporting from enjoying what he stole from him. Again I pray it to be your portion if you support such injustice.
I read some people make some claims against him. You say he is desperate yet you don’t see desperation in the person you are supporting who have failed over and over again and who will still contest again in 2024 and even when he fails will yet again contest when Hope Uzodinma leaves office in 2028. That’s hypocrisy of the highest level. If Abraham Lincoln will try and try and try again until he became President of America, what then is desperation in Senator Ifeanyi Araraume contesting for public office? Is there an unwritten law that says he shouldn’t contest? Is he a convict or is he not a citizen? So why must he not contest? If he should not contest then those you support must not also contest.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has ideas and plans for his people and there is nothing wrong in him aspiring to public office to enable him do what he cannot do with his private resources. Besides, it’s a proven fact that the originator of an idea is the best executor.
But then, speaking of private resources, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume have used his private resources to change the lives of many. I will not mention names of some politicians you know who run to beg for money from him to help in their elections. Some of those who feel they have arrived today got to where they think they are today through financial support from Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. I was in his house in December 2019 and saw how his very large compound was almost over run by cattle that you’ll think he had a ranch but they were just cattle sent by many people he rendered one assistance or the other to coming to show appreciation. As the cattle was coming so was he giving them away to visitors especially the clergy.
If those he had helped were all grateful people, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume would be a very very happy man but alas, even Christ Jesus suffered ingratitude of the people so who is Senator Ifeanyi Araraume that they would not be ungrateful to?
I pity Araraume.
I was in his house when the name of a young man Uche Ken was brought up and without even knowing who he is, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume sent money to help in his hospital bills. Today Uche is out of the hospital and hopefully will soon walk with his two legs soon. Uche supported others even against Senator Ifeanyi Araraume but those people didn’t bother to rescue him when he needed their help but Senator Ifeanyi Araraume did. This is one of so many.
We’re not talking about those who got Federal government appointments through Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. I was at a birthday of one of them. The man built a church in his village. What he is today he gives thanks to God and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. I was also in his house when a young man came with his kinsmen to thank Senator Ifeanyi Araraume for giving him a Federal appointment. The young man confessed that he didn’t know Araraume from Adam but when that position came up, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume made sure an Imo man with the right qualification got it rather than losing it to other states. Many of our politicians would have sold it but the young man didn’t pay a dime. He came with a cow and fish from Ohaji Egbema his home to show appreciation.
When I look at Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, I feel pity for him. He is one of the most misunderstood men in Imo State. One of the most wrongfully and falsely vilified.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume’s decision to be a very private person is the reason why many people don’t know how many roads he had attracted to Imo State through NDDC. Because he doesn’t blow his trumpet that’s why we don’t know that when he attracts those roads, unlike others who make billions from them, Araraume hands over the project to young engineers in the community he attracted the road to with specifications of how to execute the project so that it would serve the people well. This way, he has empowered so many young men and turned them into millionaires. Need I mention that if Senator Ifeanyi Araraume hadn’t torn up Obasanjo’s initial bill for NDDC and came up with a new one which included Imo and Abia State, many of our sons making billions from NDDC projects wouldn’t be throwing their weights around. One of such people who recently tried to castigate Senator Ifeanyi Araraume once confessed that the first N8billion he made in his life was through Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. Today he feels he has arrived and can be ungrateful to a man who helped him.
Some of those he helped in the past sometimes now claim they became who or whatever they were or are by themselves. Chai, where was I when Araraume was giving them those things. I for one will sing to anybody who cares to listen what Araraume did for me so that the day I deny him, people will remind me. That’s the reason why I always celebrate people who help me on Facebook.
I am disappointed with those Senator Ifeanyi Araraume have helped. Many hardly tell the next person what this man have done for them. That’s the root of ingratitude if you as me when you can’t even tell the world what somebody did for you. It shows you could betray him at any given time.
I don’t know why good hearted people always make the mistake of trusting the worst and most ungrateful people. Only a few times do they help people like me who live my life being grateful to anybody who helps me.
There’s so much to say but this writeup has become longer than intended.
Indeed I pity Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
