The Imo State Chapter of the People Democratic Party PDP, have reacted to a publication by an Owerri based Newspaper, “National Newsbreak” on Monday, June 22, 2020 which ran with headline; “Poor Funding Chokes Imo PDP”, stating that the publication was “the figment of the speculative imagination of its sponsors”.
The Imo PDP, reacting through a statement signed by the party’s Acting State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ogubundu Nwadike, stated that the party is not in financial distress as painted by the publication, and insisted that the party leaders had not turned their backs at the party.
Ogubundu further stated that the party also vehemently refute the statement by the newspaper, that leaders of Imo PDP have turned their backs on the party.
He insisted that the party boasts of very committed leaders who have continued to stand by the party in all political weathers.
Ogubundu insisted that no other party in the State can boast of such membership or leadership.
He stated that the PDP, was the only functional party in the State at the moment. Ogubundu further stated that the PDP umbrella, housed the most prominent and most reliable politicians and political leaders in the State.
Ogubundu stated that funding of the party, has never been an problem for the party. He insisted that the party has never failed to meet all its financial obligations.
He further reminded the public that the Imo PDP was the only party in Imo State that has a functional Administrative State Secretariat, which is constantly serviced by an array of different cadres of staff, possessing basic infrastructure like water, electricity, clean and healthy environment, amongst others, unlike other political parties in the State. It is worthy of note that the APC secretariat is torn between the Hope Uzodinma office, and the Okorocha/Daniel Nwafor office, both located along Okigwe road.
Ogubundu insisted that the source of the information was false, stating that the Imo PDP was very financially solvent.
He further urged the general public, to disregard the publication in its entirety.
