The Imo State Assembly Public Accounts Committee have made public their intention to forward the report of their investigation into the alleged missing N19. 63bn Local Government Fund to the EFCC for further persecution.
This is following the failure of sacked Governor of Imo State Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha to get the court to stop the Imo State Assembly from investigating him over the alleged disappearance of N19.63bn from the Local Governments coffers.
An Owerri High Court presided over Justice S.I Opara had rejected an application Ihedioha seeking to restrain the Imo State House of Assembly from probing him over the alleged mismanagement of N19.63 billion Local Government funds.
Ihedioha had made an ex-parte application which was rejectwd and the case was instead set for hearing with the presiding judge advising interested parties to file necessary documents for hearing before adjourning till May 27 for hearing.
Chairman House Commitee on Public Accounts PAC, Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri who represents Oru East State Constituency have stated that their investigation was already half way through and their report would be forwarded to the EFCC.
The PDP lawmakers had tried to change the leadership of the committee through a memo sent to the Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt Hon Collins Chiji but their protest was ignored.
