…As APC lifts Shehu Sani’s suspension
Reprieve came the way of Senator Shehu Sani, yesterday as the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, directed the Tudun Wada ward of the party in Kaduna State to lift the suspension placed on the lawmaker.
Senator Sani, who is representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, was one of the few senators that made last minute u-turn when some of the APC senators defected to opposition parties two weeks ago.
The lawmaker has been having running battle with the Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-rufai whose supporters slammed the suspension on the lawmaker.
In a statement signed by the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yekini Nabena, in Abuja, on Sunday, the National Working Committee, NWC also directed the ward chairman and other party officials in the state to implement the directive in order not to jeopardize the efforts being made by the national leadership of the party to resolve the crisis in Kaduna state chapter of the party.
The statement read” “The National Secretariat has received the news of the suspension of Senator Shehu Sani by the Tudun Wada Ward chairman and wish to clarify that the purported suspension of Distinguished Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District is hereby lifted and he is confirmed as a bona fide member and leader of our party.
“The Chairman Kaduna State Chapter has been directed to inform the relevant Ward and Local Government chapters appropriately and also put the necessary mechanism (in place) towards complementing the efforts of the National leadership towards ensuring lasting peace and unity in the party.”
This is the second time Senator Sani is surviving suspensions slammed on him by loyalists of the Kaduna state governor.
The initial suspension some months ago was annulled by the North East Zonal leadership of the party as the suspension ran afoul of the provisions of the party’s constitution.
