From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Ahead of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State, former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, and his immediate successor, Rochas Okorocha, have continued in their verbal attacks, which has heightened their frosty relationship.

Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim has while declaring his ambition to stage a comeback to the Imo Government House at the weekend accused Okorocha’s “Rescue Mission” administration of committing several atrocities against the Imo people, noting that such atrocities would land him in jail, when he leaves governance in 2019.

Ohakim, who resigned from his former party, the PDP, and declared his intention to succeed Governor Okorocha under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), at the Kanu Nwankwo Stadium Complex, Owerri, at the weekend pledged to change the life of Imo people if elected to complete his second term in office.

In a dramatic form, Ohakim, who addressed the public, wearing an overall mechanic dress while holding spanners and screw drivers in his hand, stated in his documented 10 paged presentation titled- “My Covenant Affidavit To The People of Imo State” that “I am constitutionally qualified, mentally matured, physically sound, competent, experienced and I understand completely the Nuts and Bolts” of Imo State government”

The immediate past Governor pointed out that in cognition of his privileged and informed knowledge of the affairs of the State, that he has the burden of moral, political, economic, social and spiritual responsibilities to the good people of Imo and Nigerians at large

“To challenge and address the wasteful, treacherous, deceitful, capricious, autocratic, totalitarian and perceivable draconian malady that has entangled Imo State of Nigeria between 29/05/2011 and the time of this oath, that is 10/5/2018, he said, adding that his current mission if given the mandate will be nothing else but “to address the urgent issues of economic revival, loot recovery, reconciliation and return of Imo State back to the hands of God.

Responding to Ohakim’s allegations, Governor Rochas Okorocha, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo told The AUTHORITY in a telephone chat described Ohakim as a confused man, saying, “he is only envious of the Rescue Mission’s unprecedented transformation and developmental strides of the State”.

Onwuemedo further said that “Chief Ohakim lacks integrity to seek for Imo peoples vote without tendering to them a public apology for the wasteful 4 years he had on a saddle of the State.”
